Michael Kenna

Michael Kenna is an English Photographers known well for his Black and White landscapes. He mainly focuses on unusual landscapes.

I like these images because of the composure and the sharpness of the blacks, compared to the whites.

Simon Norfolk

After leaving a documentary photography course in Newport, South Wales, Norfolk worked for far-left publications specializing in work on anti-racist activities and fascist groups, in particular the British National Party. In 1994 he gave up photojournalism in favor of landscape photography.

Rivington panorama

This is my panorama I created on Photoshop CS6.

These are the steps to how i made this images.

1) First go to file and then automate and then click on photomerge.

2) Then this window will open. You Then select browse.

3) Then you select the images you have taken to go into the panorama and then click open.

4)This window will then pop back up with the selected images and then click ok.

5) The images you have selected will then show with a checkered background.

6) Then i selected the ones i did not want and removed them from the image.

7) You then click on the crop tool which is on the tool bar on the left hand side.

8)Then you crop the image down so there is non of the checkered boarder and then click the tick at the top.

9) Then you will have your finished picture.

Rivington Original Pictures

Unit 18 Drawing and reproduction.

Jamie requested that I put up ALL the photographs I made for this unit based on the research I did in unit 16 Drawing with research. Here is the annotated portfolio for this unit. 

This is a failed attempt at formal composure because it is not straight so if i was to reshoot i would take more time making sure the image is perfect.

I have chosen this image as one of final images because i like the composition of how the archway is in the middle of the image.

I have chosen this image for one of my final images because i like the composure of how the building is in the middle of the frame and i think it works well in black and white.

This is image is to dark so if i was to reshoot this i would change the aperture and the shutter speed.

I think that this image is perfectly exposed.

I think this image is good because the path leades into the overgrowth.

This is an image of an old water fountain that has now got overgrowth and turned into a swamp. 

I have chosen this image as one of my final images because i think it has a creepy setting.

I like this image but the only thing wrong with it is that it isn't straight.

This image of the bridge is good because the bridge is more or less in the middle and i think it works well.

The thing i like about this image is that it doesn't have anything to focus on so you look around the image instead of being focused on one point.

I don't like this image because it is not straight and it is not exposed right. If i was to do this again i would get the mast in the middle and make the image lighter.

I like this image because i think it works well with the sign behind the fence.

This image also works well in black and white.

I like this picture of an old mine shaft because it is simple. I think this image will work well in black and white.

This is another image of the masts but from further away. I like this image because it shows all of the masts on one hill but it needs to be lighter therefor I would change the exposure.

This images are part of a panoramic i am going to do. I think they will work well in this.

This is an old quarry entrance I woke this image because the entrance is hidden beneath the grass and bushes. I think this will work well in Black and white

I think that this image is a failure because it is not straight and the sky is to over exposed.

Rivington final images

These are my final images from a trip to Rivington I produced for unit 18 Drawing with reproduction.  I have altered the original images from colour to black and white, this is a formal quality I prefer and references film and the traditional photographers I researched in unit 16. These are reproductions of the colour image which are reproductions of the actual location. I think that this is an interesting way of thinking about photographs. The line and tone that I am interested in does also reference drawing. This is something that I didn't do while on L3 photography.
